This Phoenix-based organization is trying to tie Art and Philanthropy together by raising funds thru cultural activities for the preservation of the Marathi language in the USA and sponsoring free anemia checking for women in India since 2006. This grassroots level, persevering activity -the anemia project is ever-expanding and much needed for educating women regarding nutrition, hygiene, kitchen gardening in order to get rid of iron deficiency anemia and creating a healthy society.
The non-profit organization, Akshaybhasha has sponsored the anemia camp/project for the last 10 years at Matru Sewa Sangh at Hinganghat and at Nagpur; Jyanprabodhini, Harali; Keshav Smruty Pratishthan, Jalgaon. This project has helped thousands of women in rural areas, in identifying, treating, and getting educated about iron deficiency anemia with great symptomatic relief and reduction in morbidity. The ultimate goal is to eradicate nutritional anemia completely in the third generation by intensely educating the mothers and daughters first thru this project.
